Booklist for Boys, ages 5-8 years old

booklist for boys, aged 5-8

Just like I promised, here is the booklist for boys! Again, I have to put a restraint on what I write, because then you won’t be able to get anymore of these wonderful suggestions…

Yes, I may be a girl, but I’m a bibliophile. I just can’t get enough of books. Boys books. Girls books. Large books. Tiny Books. They are all the same to me. Just as long as it is interesting (to me), I read it. I’ve read almost every book that we get from the library…except for those multitude of sports books my brothers get. I’m not into reading football, golf, or basketball rules and players. Not my kind of thing.

  1. Edward and the Jungle
This book has been in my family since my sixteen-year-old brother was young! It has been read to each of my brothers, ever since. What I like about this picture book is that it encourages your child(ren), boys in particular, to imagine.
  2. Edward and the Pirates
This is the other book, written by the author of Edward and the Jungle. Like the book above, this book encourages your boys or child(ren) to want to read, because reading brings things to life.
  3. Billy and Blaze (series)
My brother loved these books. Adventure packed with a trusty horse and his young master. Every time we find these books–the ones we don’t have–we have to get! Such priceless books.
  4. Dan Frontier (series)
These stories are easy to read, yet full of adventure and enjoyment. What boy doesn’t like guns, the wild frontier, or danger?
  5. Daniel’s Duck
Oh, this book brings back memories. Such sweet memories. A young boy spends the cold, long winter whittling a special object to sell at the market this year. I read this book when I was about seven or eight years old, and it still gives me warm feelings!

Don’t worry, my friends! This is not the last booklist! Next time…Booklist for Girls, aged 9-12 years old.

Have any other suggestions that I could add to my lists? Let me know in the comments, and I’ll make sure to mention them!

Some interesting looking books on this list-am preparing now for when my 2 year old wants to move to the next book level (at the moment, he likes lifting flaps and things that make a noise!)
